1. Tried out some Ben & Jerry's ice cream the other day and I really really liked it. | 2. Last Friday was my mother's 50th birthday! She's gettin' old now, isn't she. ;) | 3. On the road again. | 4. A nice cup of tea and knitting ready, so I can finally settle down and relax...

I don't mind being busy, but I'm very busy at the moment which leaves me with almost no time to invest into other stuff (like for instance knitting and sewing and such important things). However it must be said that last week I finished the first book of the year within a week (funnily enough not the first book I started reading this year). So that will go on the list, naturally. At the moment I'm reading two books at the same time (last week I was obviously reading three books at the same time. Just saying). And apparently not many people read more than one book at the same time. So, ya know, a little inside into my life and things.

The down side to being very busy is that you're also very tired (which leads to such nonsense as above. So I'd like to apologize for this rubbish. But you can't always have diamonds for breakfast, because otherwise you're digestive system will be cut into pieces, I imagine (if there's anything that has the power to cut your digestive system into pieces, than it must be diamonds) Again I'd like to apologize for the words written down. I don't even know what I'm doing (not that I generally know what I'm doing, but ya know, hopefully something better than this...)).

The coming week will, again, be very busy (I'm allowed to go and pack in some Haute Couture and set up some Rodin statues instead. What a live I life...). How's your week been?

Love,
Dominique

I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing.
I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink.
I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls.
I believe that tomorrow is another day, and...
I believe in miracles.
Audrey Hepburn

Lipstick is probably my favourite cosmetic product. It's just so good! It can turn your whole face around with it's lusciousness! I've naturally started off my collection with old lipsticks from my mum (as everyone does). Gradually I started to build a collection on my own, mainly excisting out of freebies from magazines.

As my collection grew and I started to buy some lipsticks for myself, I decided that instead of collecting all the freebies and buying cheap makeup, I'd rather had something more profound on my lips (sidenote: I was a serious kid). The dream I wanted to chase (which sounds a bit cringeworthy, but y'all know what I mean) could be realized if I'd stop splurging on all kinds of knick-knacks and started saving up for the real deal. The real deal in my eyes naturally being the brand I'd been chasing ever since the name was first said to my face. Chanel.

Funnily enough, my first Chanel lipstick was a gift from my parents. Naturally it was red (I was quite notorious for my red lips (most people didn't knew my name and just referenced to me as "the girl with red lips"), inspired of course by mademoiselle herself). That gift really gave me the power to toss everything out and start again from scratch. This unfortunately meant that I reduced from a collection excisting out of 50 or so products to a mere one-man show. However, this also meant that every piece I'd added to the collection would be an addition I'd thoroughly thought about. Owh yeah, I take lipstick very seriously.

My current collection excists out of eleven pieces. Most of them are from Chanel. Obviously. I haven't made any new purchases in a long time, but I've been looking at some, so... I really want to broaden my horizon and try out some products from for instance Mac, Lime Crime, Lunatick etc. At the moment I'm looking for more darker colours, but also some nudes and maybe a bit of a crazy colour. And red (I'm always looking for a good red). I've been eyeing up for a Chanel in Rouge Noir, but I haven't tried it out yet. Oh the suspense!

All lipsticks at the moment are resident in an old cigar box from my grandma. On top there's a Spanish bullfighter depicted, which always makes me think of James Dean (he was a fan of Spanish bullfighters). Two memorabilia in one. ;) I try to keep my collection small, so everything can be held in this box. Anyway, what's the point in owning 50 or so lipsticks if you just wear a small percentage of that. You'd rather just own that small percentage and wear everything to its full extent, amiright?

And that's it, I guess. If you've got a lovely collection or know a lipstick I should most definitely try out, scream my name until your longs fall out or comment below. Either one...

Love,
Dominique

Deodorant is like socks: very important, but not that much talked about. Or atleast not as much as for instance lipstick. However, I like to state that probably more people use deodorant on a daily basis than lipstick. Or atleast, more people should use deodorant on a daily basis than lipstick... The deodorant that I've been using lately is the Rexona Maximum Protection.

The Rexona Maximum Protection is there for "the hard working woman". Although most of my work at the moment is desk-bound, I also sometimes need an extra hand. I'm not that much of a sweaty person, but I like how this deodorant adjusts itself to the situation it's been put, if ya know what I mean.

The deodorant doesn't really have a distinctive smell and is very much something more in the background than to disguise "bad smells". Which I personally prefer, because what's the use of wearing some fancy perfume if no one can smell it above the noise of my deodorant?!

You apply the product with a sort of roller/push up thingy, which has an up- and downside to it. Up: I won't get killed by chemical fumes (side note: don't spray deodorant infront of someone with asthma and allergies. Just saying). Down: It stains like hell. You really have to leave it to dry for a good few minutes, otherwise your clothes will get marked with a lovely white stain that's a real pain in the butt to get removed... yay.

Rexona Maximum Protection does what a deodorant is made for, doesn't smell (in a overly protective deodorant way), but unfortunately stains like there's no tomorrow. It saves itself however from this flaw by protecting you for 48 hours strong (which it, for a change, actually does... surprise surprise).

Dominique

1. Busy at work... | 2. Waiting is keyword to my current travel habits. ;) | 3. Some more bloody snow. | 4. And finally the weekend arrived (and passed *sigh*).

I see you comb your hair, and gimme that grin.
It's makin' me spin now, spinnin' within.
Before I melt like snow, I say "Hello, how do you do?"
Roxette - How Do You Do?

This week I've started my internship at a museum. My life has never been as structured. I wake up, get ready, put something in my mouth that resembles some kind of food because I ain't got no time because I decided at that very moment when I'd ought to get out of bed to just turn around one more time while the clock kept on ticking, I run for the bus, I wait for the bus, I get into the bus, I arive at the station, I wait for half an hour for another bus (at the moment while listening to Blue and reading The Second Book of General Ignorance: Everything You Think You Know Is Still Wrong by John Lloyd and John Mitchinson with an introduction by dr Stephen Fry), I get into another bus, I get out of the bus, I walk for about six minutes, I ring the bell, I get into the building and I work till about half past five, then I go home (so walking for about six minutes to the bus stop again), same routine with the bus (although this week my dad picked me up. How very sweet of him!), I eat some food, I do something that isn't worth remembering, I go to bed, I sleep and repeat. And that will be it probably for the coming three months... Not that I'm necessarily complaining (although more sleeping hours would be nice). I'm quite lucky with my museum and the people and the tasks I've got given. There's no time to be bored or sit around and everyone's friendly so, ya know, what else do you want?

I've watched this documentary yesterday about David Bowie (because what else does one do on a Saturday night??) and if I had to name one thing that I've learned from that, is that everything changes. You change, your environment change, your situation change, your opinion and preferences change, your thoughts, your desires, hopes and dreams. Everything changes. As he naturally famously sings: "Time may change me, but I can't trace time." And that in a way reminded me of how we (or I. But lets get big talking in the "we" sense) make decisions that influences our change and how this is first of all very personal and something you shouldn't look back at as it being a mistake or a mishap. At that moment in time it was your choice or at least the circumstances you were in. Those decisions, choices and changes were there for a reason.

If there's anything we can learn from, it must be our past. May this be in the grand terms of history in general sense, or just your personal growth and how there's still a way to reinvent into something that's been molded. For instance like a Rodin statue. Something that's intentionally not completely finished (maybe because there's no such thing as perfection or completion).

I've also watched X-Men: First Class for the first time (today actually). And the strong note that you (I) can take from that, in combination with Bowie's story, is that personal acceptance is maybe the most important thing you can achieve in life. Acceptance in who, what, where, when and how you are. As it's with Erik's/Magneto's ability that's fuelled by anger and pain. However there's more power, as Charles/Professor X states and proves, in serenity (which relies I think on acceptance and such). Food for future thoughts, maybe... (because now I'm too busy to think). Have a nice day/week! (also happy first of the month everyone! May your February be wild and wonderful...)

Love,
Dominique
