There is always some madness in love. But there is also always some reason in madness.
Friedrich Nietzsche

"I'm in love!!", I exclaimed upon arrival of my mystery package. Well, not exactly with those words (it was more like unexplainable noises that came out of my mouth. Practically the same). The packaging is very promising indeed...

Back in July the lovely people of Lunatick Cosmetic Labs were looking for promoters. Naturally I'd already raised my hand just by the thought of it and the deal was sealed within minutes. Like, I was literally speechless (well, it was more like unexplainable noises that came out of my mouth. Practically the same). So.... You could argue that this is my first ever 'sponsored' post. What a weird thing to say. Or type. Thus, just in case anyone doubts it, all the opinions are mine. So lets keep it simple: I go looney for Lunaticks Cosmetic Labs.

Lets start at the beginning:

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Fast response/shipping
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

As stated above -I kid you not- within 5 minutes everything was settled. I don't know who's behind that computer, but you've got some real good skills...

I'm not a resident of the USA -just to fact check- and as you can read in the Shipping Policy for international orders, sending can normally take up two to six weeks. So you might imagine my surprise when the postman knocked on the door just a week later. I know that shipping time can vary (I mean two and six weeks are quite different), but it's always nice to get something sooner than later.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Amazing packaging
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

This goes without saying. I love it when a brand does that extra something to package their products in. It makes believe that they actually care about what they sell (which I definately do not doubt regarding the Lunatick Team. And we can't blame them, how can you not get -overly- excited about their stuff), which is always a nice feeling. Especially little handwritten notes gets me swooning... Even if they felt the need to write me something rude, I'd still be in awh just because it was handwritten...

They didn't write me something rude, just for the record. But still... handwritten.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
THE PRODUCTS!!!!!
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Every product is talc free, cruelty free and made with vegan formulas. I'm a great advertiser for bringing ingredients into the daylight. If I'm going to put something on my face, at least let me know what it is. And Lunatick certainly doesn't disappoint me! Everything is neatly listed on the individual packaging of the products.

Talking about the individual packaging of the products asdfghghklkjasdlksjadlkjas!! Just look at it! I mean, a lipstick in the shape of a bullet with the tagline "Reloading your idea of beauty"? Praise the genius who came up with that! I got myself one in the colour Cinderhella (I know, I know, they are ridiculously good in giving their products AWESOME names).

Same goes for the glitter. Look at the side of the packaging, take a peek at the name -Ghouls Gold in this case- and... SWOON. It goes without saying that the actual product (ya know that what's inside of it) is a dream come true! Holographic rainbow gold? HELL YEAH!!

The thing I admire most is the quality and pigmentation of the products. A little goes a far way! That lipstick. One swatch and you're good for about 9 cups of tea (I've tried it myself!). Also, I love the way it fades away. I know that that isn't really the 'point', but to me its quite important to be aware of the way a lipstick fades. With for instance Chanel the most degrading happens at the centre of the lips and you get this sort of darker framing on the outside -if you can imagine what I mean. While this one has a very evenly way of application AND fading. I get the important facts down! Journalist at work right here, baby!!

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
The down side of it all
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

To quote my dear ol' palls of Queen: I want it all, I want it all, I want it all and I want it now. So the down side is actually good for their business, but less purse friendly.... Oh well, you can't take it with you to the grave, can ya? So might as well enjoy it by spending every penny on makeup.

NO REGRETS.

I've already got my eyes peeled on the Supernatural eyeshadow palette, My Bloody Valentine Loose eyeshadow and if you're at it also some Mint Night Magic and Zombie Nation and some more of those bullet lipsticks/lipslicks in for instance Tainted Temptress and Creature and Bruja and and... I need a lie down....

Take a snoop around the Lunatick Cosmetic Labs site and let me know what's got you looney in the comments below!

Love,
Dominique

Oh yes! I love the smell of near extinction!
Cruella De Vil
(101 Dalmatians 1996)

| Coat: Made by me | Dress: Made by my mum | Blouse: InWear | Tights: Hema | Shoes: Van Haren |
| Hat: Vintage | Bag: Primark | Gloves: Vintage | Lipstick: Chanel Rouge Allure #154 Badine |

Although I'm very fond of twirling around in pretty dresses while wearing a tiara on top of my head, I've never been into Disney princesses. *SHOCK*

Most young girls dream of being a princess. BUT NOT ME. 101 Dalmatians and The Aristocats is where my jams at. I mean, who doesn't like talking animals going on an adventure? Well I certainly do! Those two films are basically the only ones I'd watch when I was younger (with naturally My Little Pony to add to the list, but that isn't a Disney production so...). I didn't want none of that Snow White or Cinderella or Belle & The Beast. No! Just 101 Dalmatians and The Aristocats and I'm a happy preppy!

Besides the talking animals, I'd like to argue that both films have the best villains in them. Now you'll probably think I've gone mad, but I'll tell you why these villains are the best villains in the whole Disney genre: They are real human beings. Not some magical creature you'll never ever meet in real life. No. Real human beings that might as well exist in our own little world. Even the extravagant (ahum you mean AMAZING) Cruella de Vil is a real person that -somewhere on this planet- is part of our society.

And there's nothing more to be said about Edgar. Poor ol' Edgar who's working his butt off and still gets a lesser treatment then the cats... No wonder he's grown a grutch against them! (too bad for him that they're so darn cute and shake their tales to jazz, otherwise I'd totally support him).

Judge: Cruella De Vil...
Cruella De Vil: Do call me Ella, Cruella sounds so... cruel.
(102 Dalmations 2000)

I wouldn't necessarily say that I aspire to be either one of them (evil is just not my style), but there ain't no denying in their mad brilliance. It perfectly suits them! And if there's anything in life that we're looking for, it's something to be passionate about. And I don't know anyone who's more passionate about a cause than miss De Vil. Yes she's trying to slay 101 dalmatian puppies in the name of fashion, but at least she's passionate doing so!

Talking about Cruella, I myself am also quite fond of the playfulness of the dot. However, I think that slaying 101 dalmatian puppies is actually a bad thing to do (sorry C). So instead I've opted for the friendlier option of fake fur (as we all should do). And now I can further exploit my fantasies of being the good twin...

Who's your favourite Disney villain?

Love,
Dominque

I've had long hair, I've had short hair and I've had in between hair... and it's all good.
Morena Baccarin

I've cut my hair.

Well, my hairdresser has.

But still.

I've cut my hair.

For quite some time I've been playing with the idea of snipping my hair off. And, may these pictures be my witness, I've just done so. Out of the blue. Sort of.

My mum needed a cut so I accompanied her to the hairdressers (award for best daughter EVAH goes to...). And once she heard my plan, the hairdresser got excited and said she had enough time to do us both. "Alrighty then!", I fearfully said when looking in despair at my mother who was just grinning like the Cheshire cat. And that was that. Sort of.

As said, I've been playing with the idea for quite awhile, and on one occasion my dad remarked that if I'd snip it, I should give it to a good cause. It only took me two words and Google to find such a cause. The cause I'm supporting is the foundation Haar Wensen, but there are -surprisingly- many different causes and foundations who will happily take your hair...

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
7 Reasons Why You Should Snip It!
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

1. Why not? It's easy!

2. What are you gonna do with it yourself? Creep. (OR, if you are a creep, you can still send in your hair that's left your head 10 years ago. Go and search those pre-teen braids!).

3. It'll grow back.

4. If it goes wrong, or it doesn't suit you, or you basically hate it, you've always got the reassurance that at least someone else is enjoying your frivolous locks. Your lovely frivolous locks.

5. It'll grow back. Trust me. (Otherwise: ever heard of extensions? Wigs? Although it'd be quite ironic if you'd donate your hair so they can make a wig out of it and then you buy one yourself. So get over yourself, you look fine!).

6. If you ever commit a crime and they find a hair of yours, you could always say that you've donated your hair and that that particular hair is not your hair but from the person that's received a wig of your hair. You'll get away scot-free, guaranteed!

7. Sharing is caring. It just goes to show how long I've been playing with the idea of cutting my hair, before finally doing it, how important hair actually is. Hair creates an image. But we aren't our curls or the lack of it. We are happy, we are sad, we have feelings. And just by a small gesture you can relieve that image -a little- for someone else.

If you're compelled yourself to finally snip it (and who wouldn't after those compelling and convincing reasons), you should keep a few things in mind. For instance: they're not your garbage can. So before you grab the scissors read the terms and conditions -most probably enlisted on their website. This way you can make sure your bit actually helps them.

Because Haar Wensen makes wigs for children -mostly girls- they ask for longer hair. My hair was 60 cm long (who'd thought?!) and I've snipped of a braid of 28 cm long, so the hairdresser had some room to play with. Which is also an important thing to think of before cutting the braid off your head. So think beforehand what kind of short cut you want and how much 'leftover hair' you'll need. I had this envision of 1920's meets 1980's meets my hair. So just to be sure and to get it tip top in shape, we left quite a bit on the head (which made me feel a bit guilty when she cut off the excessive hairs IT COULD'VE BEEN FUTURE WIG MATERIAL!!).

I'm very happy with the outcome (pictures this Thursday, I promise!). All that stands to do now is to get myself a flapper dress and learn the Charleston. Shake those legs! I can already hear the music...

Dominique

Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.
Albert Einstein

"Ain't nobody got time for that!", I exclaimed after my mum told me to hurry up for the 100th time. "I've got a growing pile of clothes to sew, jumpers to knit, hats to crochet and don't get me talking about the French knitting! (not so sure what to do with it yet, but I'm working on it...). College just needs to back off and get in line."

"Hurry the f* up!!!!"

"Yeah, yeah."

Learning itself isn't the bad guy here. I love learning something new, to expand my knowledge and to impress my dog when in conversation. It's just the school-part that always gets the better of me. I don't like people, why are you forcing me to work with them together on a project that's so uninteresting it'll make the pope swear out of frustration (who's there naturally to say that the pope doesn't swear on a regular basis, but it's the thought that counts). I have been so foolish to go and follow this course, so I think it's only fair to regret the decision on my own. Alone. With some yarn and knitting needles.

I know, I know, I'm very privileged to even be in the position of complaining (or just ordinary moaning), but for the amount of money I'm paying AT LEAST offer some gluten free food in the canteen. In combination with my favourite tea. For free. Is that too much to ask? Oh! And naturally give me interesting topics to study and assignments that are educational yet fun (pro tip: cut the 'team-building' crap. Making 20-somethings cry because they've consequently used the wrong lettertype is just cruel). And then, I think, we'll get along fine. For now.

Raise your glass to a new schoolyear!
(when's the next holiday in sight?)

Love,
Dominique

By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer's best of weather
And autumn's  best of cheer.
Helen Hunt Jackson

WARNING: The title of this post was conducted before the actual post was written. This post only features one made up word. (because I thought to myself "How hard can it be to think up some other made up words, right?". And my brain was like "Hahahahahaha, yeah.... *farts*". So then I thought to myself "How hard can it be to think up some other title". And my brain wasn't even there to answer the question, so we'll never know...).

I'm back! Back from my staycation, which is "a vacation spent in one's home country rather than abroad, or one spent at home and involving day trips to local attractions." And to use the word in a sentence:

Raymond Miles, 41, a grocery manager who lives in the Bronx,
ended up on an unplanned staycation last week.

Good on you Raymond! (or not so good, depending on the situation) I've googled where the Bronx is and I see you've got a lovely zoo and a Botanical Garden, several parks, a museum or two and even the cottage of Edgar Allan Poe is right under your thumb. We don't have that here, but still my staycation was pretty fine, thank you very much for asking. I'll be sharing some of the highlights soon, but first: who'd ever heard of the word staycation?

In my dictionary a vacation is a vacation, meaning you don't go to school or work or whatever preoccupies you on a daily basis. And that's it. Vacation. Or holiday if you're keen on singing some retro Madonna. Even my dearest Google Translate states that a vacation is spend away from home!

Stupid Google Translate. Not to be trusted.

I've been to a museum. Or two. Alright, maybe three. But it could've been four if only we had more willpower. I know, I know, but the brain gets kooky after too much culture (says the girl who actually studies culture and shizzle *sigh*).

I've also been swinging the old knitting needles around and STILL am not over the granny square (I know, I know, it's getting old know. But who'd thought that there were so many different kinds of squares in the world? I surely didn't. Although I never was good at maths).

If you're interested in more details on my STAYCATION, you should keep hanging around this place (because I'm certainly not letting this chance go by of the easy to chew-blogpost machine. Besides, who doesn't like reminiscing on their holiday when 'normal life' has started to take over again. Lets keep those spirits high, people!).

So what have y'all been up to? Been busy bees or just takin' it all relax and easy?

Love,
Dominique
