Great balls of fire. Don't bother me anymore, and don't call me sugar.

I love this dress!
The temperature had been ricing lately and I didn't like it one bit. So it comes in handy that after some time the weather decided to give us a break and put us through some stormy weather. I don't like storm, but it does make the earth cool down so no complaining here!
To make the best of this cooler weather (weather forecast: 32 degrees coming up our way) we went to the polder. Some scenery pictures:

Blouse+Gilet+Short: H&M/Shoes: Primark/ Socks: Zeeman
We -dad, Jack and me- chose our carriage, but soon regretted our choice when we saw these beauties on the side of the road.

Our carriage...

Chanel. Nothing more. Nothing less. And yet a thousand images runs through your mind. The most luxurious creations with titles as the jacket, the bag, the perfume and so on.

Of course I can't afford the jacket or the bag or... well I'm the very proud owner of n5, but you get my point. It's not something I'm simultaneously going to buy, because let's face it: it's freaking expensive. That's of course the charm of it all, isn't it? It's not something everyone has... and it doesn't hurt to dream about the day the jacket or the bag does arrive at my house. But until that time (in a far desired future), you can undertake some action yourself.

First you could buy a book or magazine with all the Chanel deliciousness. I recommend the July edition of the German Vogue - some highlights shown below.

Next, if you're a creative crocheter, you could print the CC logo (shown below) and cut it out. Then you take 4 sheets of graph paper with 1cm by 1cm blocks and stick these together with for instance scotch tape.

Take the cut out and lay it in the middle of the 4 sheets (that are now reunited to one big sheet) and trace it. Now you make a cross through every block within the logo. You fill it up until you've got the CC shape... you are ready to rumble!

I've counted every block as two (so for one block you count two sideways and upwards). You can make almost anything around this. For example a blanket, gilet or a shawl. I've gone for the last option. To make it all a little bit more special you could add some pearls.

As a last resort you could always concede to your feelings and go for something with the label Chanel on it. I've chosen for a beautiful peachy coloured lipstick and black mascara.

To make it all a little bit more grand: wrap it up!

And if the need is really really high, you could always combine the above! succes garanteed!

Dominique

Shirt: Only/ Skirt+Shoes: H&M/ Bracelets: the coloured one was made by one of my friends and the brown ones were from a euroshop (facial expression not included)
I could blame the weather for my facial expression, however this one was taken waaaay before the temperature rised. It is funny how you can pose and think "this going to be a good one", and then look back at it and think "BURN IT!". The same is with clothes. You put something on and think "I'm absolutely brilliant", but after you've posted it on the internet (as you do) and actually look at it intensely, it's just a dress or just a tshirt or whatever. Sometimes these thoughts bring me down, but than I think "What of it? Yeah it's 'just a tshirt', but it's a bloody good one!". Do you know what I mean? Or no scrap that. Look at the picky picture... funny face.

I´m afraid I've let myself go a little tiny bit. Sorry. I will stop right about... now. No. Now.

Dominique

I had the greatest luck of catching the last minutes of this program called "Tussen Kunst & Kitsch". A show about distinguishing the diamonds from the glass and, more importantly, estimating how much this diamond is worth (money, money, money, must be funny in the rich man's world).

The last item was a painting by Jan Portielje. Very lovely and sweet looking with great charism. I mean how much more material for characterising a moment between two ladies do you want? Oh, I feel a whole dialogue coming up. However before I could submit myself to my casual daydreaming, this lady walked by. This lady wore a coat made out of embroidery of famous paintings... all made by herself!

Girl, you could work the catwalk! I'm in love! Another sentence with an exclamation mark just for the heck of it! Yeah! I want that coat! Please give me, give me, give me!

Alright that's it. Have a nice day.

Love,
Dominique

Shirt: DIY Customized by me/ Skirt: Made by my mum/ Shoes: H&M/ Glasses: Thrift Store

I loooooooooove pancakes! It's one of those dishes you could wake me up for in the middle of the night. Since it's one of my darlings, I though I should've learn how to prepare them. You know, for future use.

As stated before: I'm a horrible cook. Instead of 900 ml milk, I added 900 ml of water (don't know why, but I did it). So my sister was obliged to go to the supermarket and go get us some more pancake ingredients stuff. In the meantime I worked on my own gluten free pancakes and guess what... good the first time. I'm so proud of myself.

When my sister came back with the stuff, she didn't leave me alone, just to be sure. Everything went well the second time. Breakfast, lunch and dinner sorted!

Yesterday my mom and I were cruisin' around, when suddenly I saw this beautiful car hangin' around the corner. I somewhat demanded her to stop and take a picture of me and the car. However, it was raining cats and dogs and my mum wasn't that pleased to step out of the car. Luckily she's a smart lady and thought of a water tide plan:

1 She stays inside the car
2 I make a run towards the Cadillac
3 She opens the window
4 I make a pose
5 She takes a picture
6 I run back to the car, get in and we'll drive away like nothing has ever happened...

When you've got nothing to wear, you can always come back to the colour blue. It doesn't matter what it is, the piece will speak for itself. That's very comforting, especially when it's tropical and you own two short blue dresses (a bit 60's) and two large sunglasses (a bit 70's). Throw on some heels and you're done. No really. Go sit down before you get a heat stroke. Now, we don't want that to happen to your pretty little face, do we?

Love,
Dominique

P.s. Some tropical music to listen to when you're sitting down and reading my blog and you know, maybe licking an ice cream ... oh, how I love Blue!

Today I woke up with this strange need to dress up like a truck driver. I blame the television.

Shirt: Zara/ Shoes+Short: H&M/Longsleeved Shirt: X Ray/ Hat: Flea Market

Yesterday night I watched this sort of documentary about a man who dressed like an Indian and owned this mega truck. I swear, his truck was so big that it had its own gravity pull! At the back of the truck he had these kind of aircraft engines which spitted fire. Quite impressive.

Indian Pete in action...

I'm a horrible cook, so it's remarkable that today I was incharge of bringing the plates on the table. Slightly panicking about what to serve my family members without poisoning them, I remembered my all time hero Pipi Longstocking. So spaghetti it is.

First you should melt some butter in a pan. When it's melted you add some chicken and wait until they go white. When you're entirely sure everything is good (you can sort of feel it with your spoon), you add the pre-manufactured sauce.

Meanwhile you boil some water and weigh how much spaghetti you need. Put the boiled water in a pan and add the spaghetti. Wait until the bubbles come and set the timer (mine were due within 7 minutes, but I don't know if it's equal for every spaghetti. Though it should be. I mean equal times for everyone, man. We're living in the 21st century and whatnot).

Tip from my mother: add a dash of olive oil in the boiling water with spaghetti so it won't overflow.

Waiting for the spaghetti to be done, you could get yourself a cheeseslicer and violently attack some cheese (old cheese is a real pain in the neck).

By now everything should be done and you can throw it all on a plate and make a picture of it. Bon appetit!

Dominique
